LOST AND FOUND
Welcome to the University of California, Berkeley Lost and
Found. We are the central repository for lost and
found on the Berkeley Campus. The Police Department on
the Berkeley Campus is located in Room 1 Sproul Hall, just
north of the intersection of Bancroft Way and Telegraph
Avenue.
FOUND SOMETHING?
If you find a lost item on the Berkeley Campus it is your
responsibility to turn in the item to the UC Berkeley Police
Department front counter. The Lost and Found is unable to
accept found items of clothing.
LOST SOMETHING?
The online service found on this page will be your best
option for reporting items lost on the campus. It is
available day and night. Please click the link, "Enter Lost
Item" to enter a description of the item you have lost. The
software will search our database of found items and show
you matches, or potential matches, for review. Please check
back, as found items are entered daily.
HAVE WE FOUND YOUR ITEM?
Found items can be retrieved from the Lost and Found office.
During our remodeling, office hours are 10a.m. to 3p.m.,
Monday through Friday, (excluding holidays). Other times to
pick up your item may be arranged by appointment.
To claim an item you must have the following
- Valid identification, such as the following
- Driver's license
- Student ID
- Employee ID
- Passport
- Other photo ID
- Proof of ownership, at least one of the following
- Purchase receipt
- Description of item in detail
WHAT
HAPPENS TO UNCLAIMED ITEMS? Found items are held at
the Police Department for 90 days, after which time UCPD
disposes of them. Buildings throughout campus will sometimes
maintain their own collection of non-valuable lost & found
items such as books or clothing, but will turn over anything
of value to UCPD on a weekly basis. After 90 days, unclaimed
valuables may be auctioned. You can view the auction online
"propertyroom.com".
Any monies or proceeds from unclaimed found items will be
distibuted to UC Regents.
